State of Maharashtra, embarked on an ambitious two crore tree plantation mission all over the state on July 1, 2016 and ended up crossing the two crore mark by end of the day.

While the plantation was going at 65,674 sites, in Mumbai, it was kick – started at Maharashtra Nature park with plantation of 3,800 trees on a five hectare plot along the banks of Mithi River attended by Hon'ble Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change Shri Prakash Javdekar, Hon'ble Governor Shri C Vidyasagar Rao, Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis and Hon'ble Forest Minister Shri Sudhir Mungantiwar.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Prakash Javdekar said, "It is one of the biggest tree plantation drives and if every State took up initiatives like these, then within three years the target of planting 100 crore trees can be achieved."

Hon Shri Sudhir Mungantiwar, Hon'ble Minister of Finance and Planning, Forest Department, Govt. of Maharashtra had especially invited CREDAI-MCHI to join the Maharashtra Government in a world record initiative to plant two crore trees on July 1, 2016. In line with this call given by Shri Mungantiwar, MCHI Raigad Unit with Thesildar office of Panvel have undertaken to Develop and do some landscape on a 2 acre plot.

Mr. S.S.Hussain, CEO, CREDAI-MCHI had sent appeals to our Developer Members to whole-heartedly support the Government of Maharashtra in this unique initiative in a big way.

MCHI – CREDAI enthusiastically took part in the tree plantation drive with planting over 14,000 trees approx. Our members Global Constructions, Mayfair Housing, Enkay Garden, Ajmera Group of Companies, Shanti Star builders, Nahar Group, Romell Group, Global Constructions, Rajesh Builders, Nirmal Life Style, Dosti Realty, Terraform Realty, Rustomjee Group, Ashish Group and Kanakia Group also participated in this drive and planted a number of trees on their respective sites.

CREDAI-MCHI units also participated in this massive tree plantation drive with MCHI – CREDAI Thane Unit planting 12,000 trees and Raidgadh Unit planting over 9000 trees.

July will see the Thane district getting even a bigger green cover than it currently has, by planting over 12 lakh saplings on July 1, 2016, and becoming more self-sufficient in terms of water resources.
